Credit Suisse agreed to acquire Morgan Stanley’s wealth management arm in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Terms were not disclosed. (3/27)

Schroders Investment Management agreed to acquire Cazenove Capital for $646 million. (3/25)

Gottex Fund Management agreed to acquire a majority interest in Frontier Investment Management , a UK multi-asset investment management firm, for up to 450,000 shares of Gottex plus cash consideration, adjusted for Frontier’s future revenues. (3/20)

Principal Global Investors agreed to acquire a 55 percent stake in London-based investment boutique Liongate Capital Management . Terms were not disclosed. (3/5)


M&A Statistics

Deal volume fell sharply in Q1-13 (49 percent on a linked-quarter basis) mainly due to sellers' attempt to close transactions prior to year-end and ahead of the possible tax increases. Deal activity in 2013 has been largely driven by an increase in bank divestitures of asset management units and continued demand for alternative asset managers.
